This thread is gold. I honestly wouldn't know what to do. Gave me some stuff to think about for sure. One thing I have found, on this truck at least, I can guess pretty closely what my mpg would be on a weight and route. For instance with the company truck I am in now at that weight on that route I would average about 6.5mpg, closer to 7 if I can run at night. It is interesting the more miles you run the lower your fixed costs get per mile and gross more, but less miles for more per mile will increase your net, which is money in the pocket. o/o is business first, driver second.
EDIT: that's for the heavier weight, on the lighter weight I could get 8mpg easily. It's more deadhead but empty the dash says almost 9mpg, dunno how accurate that is but my loaded mpg is pretty consistant when I fuel up and check my mpg on paper.
