Rather uneventful here, the only problem was the idiots who were stopping on the freeway when it was going on. They actually stopped in the lane to look at it.

Those pics were taken with my cell phone...pretty darned impressed. For the partial eclipse photos, I used my eclipse glasses as a filter...had to put the camera in manual mode and play with the focus, shutter speed, etc... settings, but overall I think they turned out alright. Looked pretty darned cool @ totality.

I reserved a parking spot at the TA in Grand Island. Got in last night. Heck there was really nobody here, I was half expecting the place to be filled with RVs when I came in last night. The TA manager was going around the parking lot handing out free eclipse glasses to all the drivers, today.

I went on top the mound where the fuel tanks are. Nobody around me. Felt like it was my own private eclipse.

Got time on this load. Can drop anytime, but have until Thursday. Going to hang out and let traffic die down and roll out in the AM.

I had to laugh at one of the news reporters. She was talking to a woman sitting on a blanket with her 5 kids in Oregon, and the woman said this was the most special thing that had ever happened in her life.
Guess those 5 kids were a real letdown.

Having the opportunity to experience that once-in-a-lifetime event WITH her 5 kids...the memories they'll take with them...could be pretty special. Sure, having each kid is special, too...but this experience involves all of them. Even more special if the kids are old enough to realize what's going on. Friend of mine has a kid that'll be 1 next week...wasn't too interested in what was going on up in the sky and wanted nothing to do with the glasses....but was mesmerized by the crescent shaped shadows making their way through the trees onto the hay wagon he was sitting on with his family.
