Everyone on here is saying it will wear your clutch more than nessesary. I'm willing to start slower when otr to avoid mechanical trouble

I suppose it's possible, I haven't had a truck long enough to really know. I've driven locally exclusively, so I' probably use the clutch a bit more than most OTR guys do, but I had one truck for 50,000 miles, then they replaced it with a new one, and I put about 75,000 miles on that one. No clutch troubles, when I first got the truck the adjustment on the clutch was wonky but they got that fixed. Didn't need a clutch adjustment when I left that job. I've known OTR drivers who wore out clutches in around a year, but I'm assuming that's not normal. But considering how many adjustments a clutch should have in it, I would think that 75,000 miles without requiring an adjustment isn't bad, for local driving with all the starting and stopping.
Now, however, I'm in a job that I know I'm abusing the clutch, and there's no way around that. I'm driving a straight truck, still ten speed, doing deliveries where I often have to back up right up to a house, or right up to a tree, or whatever is behind me, as close as possible without hitting it, while going over heavily rutted dirt roads, up over curbs, etc, and that means feathering the clutch, like it or not. -
True, but dollars to donuts the OP drives a 10 speed as he is in training. That's why I used 3rd.
