Hopefully limiter is still intact and radio is putting out the rated 70+ pep watts and the meter they use is just reading higher to impress, will only know if you get it checked on a credible bench.

I may just pull the radio out and put my 447 back in untill I can get a run thru Tennessee to have it looked at.wolverine11 Thanks this.

I would be willing to bet it's simply the talkback being set too high. That's what it was with my 655.
As for the 150 watts, I would also bet on the 'happy meter' theory
OP is probably fine after talkback (MON) is turned way downwolverine11 Thanks this. -
I turned the MON completely off and the squeal went away.rabbiporkchop and wolverine11 Thank this.

Actually the 99v2 sounded pretty good with limiter removed, never saw it on a spectrum analyzer Im guessing it was a splatter box, reason I had it put back in was radio was swinging around 60 watts and I didnt want to blow finals ( mosfets) or cause other problems, now it is set at 12 carrier and 45 to 50 watts pep.
-
Someone destroyed that radio. I'd get a new one. It's a 20 watt radio.

Hogwash. You must be kidding but I don't get the jokeHD_Renegade Thanks this.

Just curious what does the onboard power meter say on your 655 when you transmit?
-
Where you getting 20 watts? 655/955 should have a carrier around 15 watts and pep to 70 watts, I dont personal own one but Strykers website has it rated at those numbers.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

Just guessing. your number is probably more accuratewolverine11 Thanks this.
