I promise you that someone will hire you. The only thing is that you can't pick and choose like most freshly out of school. Keep your head up, and keep on pushing. You WILL find a job.

No problem bro. It seems like this is a dream job for you, and you can make this work. I have a bit of a bad Past, but all of my charges are ten years old. I have had countless great companies tell me they can work with me, when I was told I had no chance.

OK latest question...As someone who has to go to school, and get their CDL.....

Would I be better to go to a school from a company itself, and then drive with them ?

    or

Would I be better attending a recognized school like at a community college or something ? Then get hired by a company ?

Also, If I got my cdl from a college or somewhere would I still have to train with a mentor OTR ? or do the companies say OK and put you on the road solo ?
    thanks, BT

If you go to a school, and I recommend a community college, all you will be learning is how to pass the test to get your CDL. You will not be a truck driver. No way, no how. No company will put you in a truck and send you out without more training. If they do you will get yourself or someone else killed. All the CDL does is give you a chance to learn how to drive a truck. You don't think you could actually drive a car when you first got your license do you? If you did then you never would have gotten a careless drive beef with the police. Truck drivers do not drive carelessly ever. When we get in trouble for an accident you can bet it isn't our fault but we are held to a higher standard. Is there anything that could be done to PREVENT the accident. You will go with a trainer and if you are wise you should be glad you do. He or she (not that I believe women should drive trucks) will help you figure out which way to turn the wheel and why.

Getting hired will not be too big of a problem for you. Making a good living in this business is possible but only if you hold yourself to higher standards then you have in the past.

Well, the process is beginning for me...I'm beginning to sell most everything I own....

    Just listed on craigslist:

    Air Compressor
    Poker Table & Casino Chips
    Ladder Rack
    Grill
    Air Conditioners
    etc, etc, etc...

Hard to sell some of this stuff like the poker table...My best friend and I built it....But I won't be needing any of this stuff for a while, and no need to keep paying $100/month storage fee....

This is the end of one chapter of my life, and soon to be new chapter....

Not sure if anyone is from the Western New York area but I know a trucker from the area, and he directed me to Buffalo Tractor Trailer Insitute...Said it was only around 2k.....

So I am looking into that now....So the plan would be to get my cdl through them, and then get hired by a company afterwards....

Does anyone know if I should make sure the school is certified or something so that all or most of the schools will accept my cdl from them ?
