I guess you found one that is correct. But to say it is a good deal is laughable. That truck has 661K miles and most likely needs a rebuild. I thought you had deals where you could get a 2020 with a warranty hint the reason buying newer. Might as well just put that extra 30-50K on that rebuild that is gonna cost that new owner operator to 90-110K because we all know new guys are normally strapped for cash when they start out. Would not want to steer them in the wrong direction and make them go broke right away. But yeah you proved us all wrong!

You wanted a DOT dealer certified truck - not an auction house - now you’re complaining about miles -
DD15 or Mercedes om472 engines are available for under 15k - not $50k! I’d love to be your mechanic or know where you’re pulling out these figures from!! No mechanic in their right mind would recommend a rebuild on them - tranny from the dealer totally rebuilt around 5k
600k miles is nothing for a 2020 - it will go a million or more before needing anything
Just change the oil on time - or get an oil report from black stone on the condition of the engine if you’re that concerned
Dealers will also sell you a warranty- although if you’re mechanically inclined this is all pretty useless info for those of you
I can’t emphasize how imp it is to change oil / every 10-15k miles religiously
When buying a truck - if you know nothing about engines - get it from a dealer - they offer financing and warranties- truckpaper is good
If you know engines - buy a used truck 500k miles - save up the cash and get it from an auction- around $35k. Find an auction house close to you - they allow you to start up the engine- and some of them provide financing- which I don’t recommend
Altro dry vans are selling 2023 for around $38k although it’s Mexican - and I’m mixed on buying new - the receivers always manage to damage them - less hurt if it’s used
Bowman leasing has rentals available under $500 per month - if you can get one - they have a sign up list

youre buying emissions crate engines from dealers @$15k?

the advice you have given so far has been pretty different from what I have experienced in the last 13 years of being an OO. Glad to see your plan working for you.

Why you change oil for 10-15K miles on a new truck when it recommended for 40-80K depending on your spec of oil and fuel mpgs? You are showing your true colors more and more on this thread.

Where do I even start! But let’s start a new thread on oil changes, specs - have a discussion with some actual mechanics and oil experts - ‘cause that is a full fledged topic on its own merits

It’s the cheapest 10 gallon insurance you can get - and for somebody paying $50k for a rebuild - I’d change it every 10k miles !
Use the no spill systems - formerly Femco- Walmart uses it standard on all its fleet trucks

Why not just spend 50 bucks and have a sample done if you are worried the oil is bad? Seems like a lot of wasted money to me if you are doing it on a newer truck. I can see changing on an older truck since they did not make them for longer oil intervals.

Those are used engines. Well the one is a long block and one is “refurbished” who knows how well, even that will be 30 grand before it’s all said and done.

Siinman - I already stated in a previous post about blackstone labs. You’d want to change it on a newer truck - if it’s iron casting - for piece of mind I would do it. Have you seen an engine being made?
On a used truck before the purchase- you’d want to see the lead aluminum copper sodium potassium values etc
On a crd engine - everything is dependent on the oil - and pressures in excess of 25000 psi - fuel and oil filters are a critical component
Like I said before - best $14 per gallon you’ll spend
