Get real folks - I just did a cursory reply for settling a difference in opinion -
There are CATS, ISX DD’s MX etc out there - each engine having its own price point.
A b10 category engine would have done a million miles before it needs an overhaul- you should’ve saved up for repairs by that time. eBay is the last stop for the laziest to search for an engine!
We have now devolved into semantics- and the original topic was O/O - if you need help with an engine issue or replacement- let me know and I’ll try and point you in the right direction- or someone here who has the wherewithal- would do the same
Some numbers for new O/O

You said that, that guy was crazy for suggesting that a rebuild would cost 30-50,000. You proved his point. A ####ty Craigslist rebuild is 20,000 just for the engine. You still have to pull the old one out and put the new one in. While you’re there you may as well do the clutch. Replace all the coolant hoses. And anything else that is suspect which is probably a fair bit at 6-700,000 or a million if you get that far. You will easily be at 30,000 probably even more.
And who tf actually does all that to just put an unproven unknown internet used engine in. And that only will save you about 5 grand.
you need to get real. And the original post was 5 years ago. -
I guess I’m 5 years late to the party ol boy ! Knock yourself out with the rebuilds and the 80k mile oil changes! Your’e every mechanics wet dream! Loosen up - it’s ok - every one has their own methodology- I’m glad it’s working for you and if I need $30k or $50k rebuilds - I’ll be sure to hit you up.
For all the new O/o out there - if you’re willing to work - money is there to be madeLast edited: Jan 27, 2023

How much would a person owning the truck with a driver profit on average?
-
Also weird question but does anyone know the average time it takes to complete a 160mi box truck delivery?
-
Averaging 60 mph about 2hrs 45 min if not driving through major towns during rush hourBean Jr. Thanks this.
-
Could a box truck complete multiple of these a day with Amazon relay?
-
I would not suggest a lease/purchase with a largish carrier.
Yes it can be done. But I’ve just heard too many horror stories. Please research that.
But if you have some money saved, yes I would advise running under someone else’s authority at first and using that experience to see whether you should get your own authority.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
A lot of great stuff here.
I’m an O/O. 13 years.
I don’t have enough posts to direct message yet.
My rates have collapsed. Leased on to another company. (Not lease/purchase, I own).
Would you reach out to me?
We might be able to help each other.
