Clean all of a week or two? Do you think you wll be able to stay that way when you are out on the road all by yourself? I have arrested a number of drivers that got to burn a left hander in a truck. Some riding down the road. Some have to take a hit at the truck stop and the rig stinks of weed. Or you end up in a wreck and have to have a drug and alcohol test done at that point. There's is enough fools on the road now in cars, we don't need any in a truck, especially with an 80,000 lbs truck.

Like others have posted, good luck to you. Prove to yourself you can stay clean before you spend the money. That way you will know you can pass a drug test.

Well weed isn't physically addictive so it is different than most other drugs including alcohol and cigarettes.

That said you are a bonehead if you turn to drugs for whatever reason. In my opinion there is no reason good enough to ever start using drugs even relatively harmless ones like marijuana.

That's true, its not chemically addictive. But I've known several life long habitual pot smokers who have tried to quit just like our hero in this thread. Said the same things this guy is saying. And what'd ya know, the ALL picked it up again. None of the folks I've known could manage to stay off it. None.

No, actually it does give me the right to condemn you. Read what I wrote above. Every single pothead I've known that quit, went back. Every single one. That's a 100% failure rate among the people I've personally known. Now clearly some people are capable of getting clean and staying that way. But you don't need a mathematics degree to realize the odds aren't in your favor on this one. And you're talking about driving a truck. So if the odds play out and you go back to using, you will be putting my life in danger. Call me weird but I don't like it when other people put my life in danger. Its nothing personal against you and you shouldn't take it that way. Lots of guys have tried and lots of them have failed and lots of innocent people have gotten hurt in the process. And like it or not, you willingly accepted the burden of that the moment you decided to inhale. That's life kiddo. Actions have consequences and sometimes they're not pleasant.

I said earlier that I wish you luck and I meant it. But the track record simply isn't on your side. Lots of guys have come along before you saying the exact same things you are. And most of them have failed. Why should I believe that you will be any different? I mean would you believe you if you were in my shoes? Even the Steven Adler can stay clean for a month and tons of hard core addicts can last six months. Keep yourself clean for a year and you'll have something to brag about. But until the best you'll get from me is good luck and I'll believe when I see it.

Since no one actually answered your question, Prime does a pee test only. I know someone that quit, but was still testing positive after 4 months. Hair follicles take a lot longer to test clean, probably a year. Don't believe what you read on the internet as far as time it takes to get clean. Everyone says 30 days, but that is so not true.

Here is a good place to buy inexpensive tests: http://www.drugtestingworld.com/thc-marijuana-drug-test-kit-urine-p-2.html?page=2

Don't listen to the haters. Go for your dreams. Just make sure you are clean before you even think about applying to a school.

We have enough trouble with people on cell phones, dont need people jonesing for a fix. Consaquences suck, but theyre the result of ones own actions. Maybe there will be a way to keep these people off the road completely.

Let he or she who is without sin, cast the first stone. I'm sure you are all perfect. I'd be more worried about all the 4 wheelers who aren't subjected to drug tests, who are driving drunk and stoned at this very moment. They kill and injure a lot more people than truckers.

Past is one thing; but when you need to look at a calendar and count back to see if you are safe, it is not the past it is the present! Yes, most people have done things in their past and should not be held against them.
Back in September a guy was wondering if 28 days was safe enough :biggrin_2556:, guess what. Nope:biggrin_25513:. He felt stupid waiting for the bus home.

Given that there are squillions of 4wheelers and maybe only millions of truckers, stands to follow that people in cars are in accidents more than truckers. Just logic. And just because there are idiots in cars (and there are), doesn't mean anyone here should not be concerned about those drivers whose jobs pretty much entail being on the road for their entire working day in a really, really big vehicle.

Rule of thumb: if you have to worry about a drug test, it's too early to be applying for a job where there's a drug test.

It's commendable for this guy to quit smoking, but it's only been two weeks AND he's fussing about drug tests.

If the OP wants to chase his dream of being a truck driver, he'd serve himself and his profession best if he starts the pursuit when he doesn't have to worry about the test at all, ever, in the slightest, because he hasn't smoked a joint in eons, not just last Christmas.

I actually had the privledge of passing a bong smoking 4 wheeler in downtown St. LOUIS a few weeks ago so I know how dangerous they can be...but driving 80,000 lbs is even more so. Like I said...if you are ok with some pot smoker driving their truck on the same road as your family then sleep well sir!
