I-80 at White Haven,Pa., Exit Hwy. # 940 East.

A BIG White Sign that says : ' Semi-Trailers with Underclearance Less than 15 inches Prohibited '.

O.K.,..What is The Underclearance ?

And Less than 15 Inches of What Number ! ?

I mean I have Read this Sign Over,and Over ! And I don't get it !

Is it just me ? Or does someone need to tell Pa. D.O.T.,to SIMPLYFY This Message !

Probably trailers like lowboys, or steps maybe HHG movers and NASCAR haulers, California skirted van trailers and reefers etc.

I think its so that no one gets stuck on a hump, like a railroad crossing. I think, not 100% sure.

It simply means no lowboy type trailers, you need at least 15 inches between the lowest point on your trailer, for example the landing legs on a dry van, so that you do not get high centered or hung up on the roadway. They must have a poor design of the roadway at that point that will make your trailer hang up if it is too low.

Under under under... Probably means under truck. Clearance of under truck that is less than 15 inches can't go thy way due to RR tracks, dips, hill crests.... It's PA so it probably has to die more with the six foot deep potholes all over the state. But any low trucks... Car haulers, lowboys, lowered trucks, moving trucks like United or North American. This is why you raise your landing gear up all the way. Less than 15inche and you couldn't go.
