    Thanks.

I have nothing to lose here, and a lot to gain. I have the means to get myself home from anywhere in the country if the bottom falls out, and I'll be further ahead experience wise.

I don't see that happening. The owner is very motivated and passionate about trucking. This first week was an opportunity for us to 'interview' each other, and it does look like things are going to work out well.

The only concern that I have is that he may be operating at a deficit without realizing it because it's being masked by the strong cash flow. But right now my focus is to learn how to be efficient, and get the most revenue from the hours that I have available.

Good points but who says you're going to feel the same way a couple months from now?Keep a close eye on your checks and loads.Companies like to stiff drivers.Theses drivers that spend more time at truckstops then driving was probably like you at first, all motivated and pumped. Now after yrs of crap they just don't care.Remember this, you are a new driver, start acting it.

I've worked with at least two (that I know of) former drivers that had too many "infractions" on the road, so they came off the road and became....

    yup....

    Safety directors.

The company provided a RM IntelliRoute TND-710. It's already saved my bacon at least twice. :)

Main thing is you enjoy you job. Play that way you may never work another day in your life! Flying did that number being home each week! Wind we pm each other a few weeks back, and you were too far east for us. Keep it up! Low / mid 40 s are in reach.

You do have a good mindset. Hang on to that. There will be times that things go south, and as long as you keep a positive outlook, do things the right way, you should do ok. Hopefully we will eat our words a year from now, when you post back that in your first year you've made that $50k or more!!!

Congrats Windsmith! I also am proud that you didn't follow the herd and went and did your research and landed yourself a good gig! That's awesome man!

Keep in mind you are going to have some weeks that are going to be better than that and some that are going to be worse than that. That's just all part of trucking though.

All and all you seem to have landed a pretty good gig. As a whole most newbies usually follow the herd and go with one of the top five mega's and don't make anywhere close to $50,000! They also don't want to stay out for more than two weeks and unfortunately that's what you must do to make $50G's. If you make $600 one week, $350 the next and the $750 the following week (these are average weeks for most new drivers) and then take a week off if this is how you are going to run then you are on track for making $20,000 this year! So, if you want to make money you can see how staying out for a couple months at a time is crucial.

Once again man, great job! Keep it up! STAY SAFE OUT THERE!!!
