Update:
Slow-ish start to the week. Picked up a 5 stop load Monday in Winchester, VA in the afternoon delivering Tuesday. Booked it over to my first stop in Levittown, PA to find the receiving department open and receptive. Opened the doors to back into the dock, and found two bottom pallets had collapsed, dumping the ones on top against the doors. The receiver was going to reject the shipment until I offered to re-stack the pallets for them (newspaper flyers, thousands of them(!)). They agreed, so the majority of the remainder of my 14 was spent re-building the pallets. 4 hours later, I made my way over to the Wal-mart parking lot 2 blocks away, sore and tired.
Spent the majority of the day getting the 4 other stops off the truck - all in NJ, one stop directly under the Pulaski Skyway. Fighting for lanes in NJ traffic just outside of NYC in a tractor-trailer is quite a rushThen deadhead 100 miles to Allentown, PA for my next load going somewhere in MA. Deadhead would have been shorter, but there was a communication breakdown between the dispatcher and me, and he thought I was 14 miles from Allentown on the last stop. So today was 6 hours of drive time, and roughly 300 miles. I'm about 1/2 day behind where I wanted to be, but overall not too bad.
