Some shippers use a bolt seal that you have to break off for the recvr. Also picked up a trailer from a split/swap,,,other driver left his padlock on it.
The extra bolt is recommended for the landing gear crank handle. If you ever had to crank with a bent bolt that won't swivel...

Is there any really good product that can control any level of 'cab funk'???

I know hygiene plays a role in this, but I simply can't live with myself without a regular shower (at least every other day)...... Still 'cab funk' is inevitable, right?

Clean the truck the best you can. Use whatever fragrance air freshener you like. That will help. But you'll most likely be in a used truck. If the previous driver(s) smoked or were just really nasty, it will be in the vents. Really not much you can do but try to mask it. Have heard of a few things that others say works for the vents, such as cranking the fan on high and spraying disinfectant into the vent intake. Not sure I would do it or if it even really works.

I am proud to say that the only smoke I inhaled ever has been secondhand.. I better not get a tractor that has been smoked in...

You're going to be a trucker, you're going to get a truck that was smoked in. It's one of those facts of life you need to come to grips with.

I use air fresheners because I like the smell of some of them but to get rid of funk you need to clean the source. I use pine sol on every non absorbent surface in the truck and a good quality carpet cleaner on all the upholstery. There's an air filter in the HVAC system to keep a majority of dust out of the cab. That filter is often the source of bad smells including smoke. Change that filter when you do your thorough cleaning of the truck and it will help a bunch.
