ABF, UPSF is OT/8. UPS feeders is also OT/8.
I think YRC, Holland is also OT/8. Maybe also NEMF, R&L, Duie Plye, Ward,

@ ABF doing P/D my area, If you do indeed hit 60 hours per week, Something really went wrong ( breakdown, Etc ) we do 40-55 hours and don't kill the routes( speaking only for my barn )

OT after 8 hours helps out some weeks. OT in general @ 1.5x After 8 or 40 is what every company should pay for local work. Straight time after OT always bothered me.

That's what I'm looking at, hours wise. Even through the slow winter months, most of the drivers at my terminal are still averaging in that range. The only way I should hit 60 hours is if I have to put in time helping out on the dock. There seems to be enough drivers that want to do that that I shouldn't have to mess with it unless I decide that I want to.

Being a new guy, I didn't do a whole lot of research on some of those companies, because they weren't really an option for me. I was more concerned about the base pay rate being adequate, as I thought it was far more likely (at least for the winter months) that would be a bigger concern for me. As it turns out, I've been able to average right around 38-40 hours a week, which has been nice (I went into it expecting to be light on hours at this point).

I thought it would be nice to find somewhere that would do OT for hours worked above 8 in a day, but it wasn't a requirement for me (when you're starting out...beggars can't be choosers). My last job/industry was a joke and I'd had enough. I was more focused on just finding somewhere that I thought I'd fit and I think I did a good job of that going with SEFL.

Sorry to dig this up from the grave but it's pretty much pertaining to me right now.

I'm in south Florida, Palm beach county to be exact. I'm currently looking at food delivery places like sysco and cbi, but stumbled upon SEFL and I'm very interested.

Would like to know if they hire newbies, I'm in school right now, doing 320 hour course and will have 1000 miles when complete. I am doing extremely well with the maneuvers and we will be going on the road within the next few weeks.

Besides that, what hours do they drive during the work day? Seen an ad that says m-f home every night, but what does that mean exactly?

Also OP thanks for having a nasty attitude and then never coming back.... Classy

I would apply and see what they do. Companies say one thing and often do another. Where I work they like to hire people with some experience doesn't have to be earth shattering experience lord knows my previous job driving a beer truck wasn't exactly Ice Road Truckers ha-ha although in the winter the yard did get a little icee ha-ha! Anyhow, I'd apply, like I said where I work they like to hire, some people with some kind of experience, but when the employee roster gets a little low and they need guys they suddenly hire people right out of school. Some people even get company paid CDL training, but the company I work for doesn't like to do that anymore in our area. They will do it for certain people, but the cases any more are far few and none, they used to train, but then they stopped, but they will hire new guys out of school at times.

I work for SEFL in Fredericksburg Va. Some terminals will hire students straight out of school and train them for up to six months before cutting them loose, it all depends on the terminal manager. The hours are Monday-Friday during the day. So far its a great company to work for. They offer great benefits, paid vacations and holidays. Get your class a, all the required endorsements and apply. Good luck!

YRC is OT/8 as well as NEMF (just got on there myself). R&L doesn't but they have company owned vacation spots they can use for free which is kinda cool.
