My nephew works for Southeastern driving local and makes over twenty an hour. He drives out of the Macon Georgia terminal. He loves it there. I think the pay scale you heard was bad info.

get ahold of fastsvt in the LTL forum..he works for southeastern freight. The freight business will bring a rude awakening, so be prepared for that.

At SEFL the driver trainee is out on the dock most of the time. They do a good bit of the hostler work to get the repetition of hooking and unhooking. It's referred to as the dock to driver program internally. You will basically be learning the LTL business from the floor up. Once you complete your required log time and you're cleared by safety to be on the street, you will go to the city board. This process can take a while but, aptitude does have an affect on the time frame. It's a good gig with a good company. The guy I just started training tried to get in at SEFL in 2009 fresh out of school and they passed. He kept applying periodically and got in. Where I'm out of, they are a very well respected entity. I think you will find them to be one of the more desirable carriers to work for anywhere they have terminals. You will be expected to give 100% every day but, that is reciprocated by terminal leadership and the company as a whole. Good luck!
