A lot of politics at FedEx. Southeastern won't lay you off like FedEx will. There's a lot of pros and cons for both but personally I like sefl
-
I'm a happy former employee from SEFL and leaving them was a good thing. SEFL is a good company, used to be great. You will be overworked and under paid. Example. SEFL all straight pay upto 65hrs week, FedEx Office after 8/day. SEFL never had a layoff true... But every winter you will only work 3-4 days a week. FEDEX you'll get a min 40week. SEFL makes up policies and rules as they go when it's convenient to mgmt. FedEx corporate worldwide with specific rules and policies in place everyone is treated the same whether good or bad. SEFL has the "buddy" system.

Disregard office in my second sentence meant to say Overtime.
-
@ SEFL Linehaul you'll stay at bunkhouses and hotels for up to 16-18hrs waiting on dock to closeout for your load. All unpaid! You'll be wild for years, as guys retire they replace their dedicated schedule runs with wild meaning no guarantee on miles or runs.

I agree but sefl has been good to me. The thing with FedEx and I know this personally is yea you get overtime after 8 but ask all the drivers how often they work over 8 unless they have been there 10 plus years
-
Of course jeffb1985, but still the same working 50-60hrs a week for straight pay isn't fair bro. To eaches own, I mean it all comes down to what you think your worth. I'm worth more than what SEFL thinks.

Yea straight pay sucks but I'm home at night and off weekends so I'm good maybe one day the ot thing will change. It's not like there not making the money to pay it

Rotation must be much heavier at the really big terminals. It's ALMOST non-existent at my house, and when it does come around, the city guys are usually more than happy to get the break. Being rotated maybe one day every month or two is much more accurate here. I have a schedule run line, and I've only seen one of our line driver's (system wild) get called off twice in two years. But line has have never been rotated...yet anyway.
There's so much more to sizing up a job and a company than just how much your make per hour or mile. No overtime is something I'm willing to trade off for job security and an environment where I'm happy. To say it isn't fair that I'm not paid overtime...well, I knew I wouldn't make overtime when I applied. So there's nothing unfair about that. I'm happy here. I'm definitely not overworked, and sure as hell not underpaid. There are plenty of LTL that work WAY harder than we do, and make less money. Guess it's all in what you're looking for. If you're just chasing a dollar trying to earn the most per hour or the highest cpm, yeah, you may want to go somewhere else and hope you don't get laid off. If you're looking for a more family friendly atmosphere, job security and an environment where they value you, then based on my experience, I'd highly recommend SEFL.Lefty1 Thanks this. -
We are a small operation and we had a sheet posted up for 5 people to sign up for a day off and basically the top 5 drivers took advantage of it and each got 1 day off during the week and we hardly had rotation during the slow months
