Sleepers?!! No way! We stay in hotels when we don't come straight home! Some terminals have bunk houses but most don't currently. There are a few sleepers but idk where they run out of. There are none at my location but they pass through sometimes. They are ONLY for teams but I think they go home on weekends. They might be hired separate through corporate. The only time I drove one was when I was covering line haul and I had to leave my truck in atlanta for service and that's the only spare they had. But you won't ever sleep in one.

We have had some drivers quit and go to fedex but never seen someone switch from there to here. That's got to be a good sign. Just throwing that out there.

^^^Hope that last post didnt blow your mind!!!

Something else about southeastern is it is sometimes hard to get a transfer. So if you need to move soon, or at some point... You might want to go somewhere else first and then apply at the location you really want. There are guys that have driven 200+ miles to see their wife on the weekend because the terminal manager at the location they had to move to either doesnt have an opening or they do have an opening but just for some reason does not want to hire that particular driver. Could be that they have 3 weeks vacation and are at top pay and they can hire someone off the street and save about 5k a year. Could be that they just dont like the person in general. Either way its the terminal manager that makes the final call with no restrictions no matter how long you have been with the company.

This is why my career here is coming to an end. This is what happens to a high percentage of people who move... if I was moving to Texas I could probably get a job there since they need lots of help. But I have been turned down at 2 locations that had openings for a hire in from outside the company. This is not rare. Makes it sound like I dont work but I do. I wouldnt have a job if I didnt.

One guy got approved and sold his house and then the manager said he couldnt use him anymore so had to stay in the bunkhouse and work while his wife moved into the new house 450 miles away. Then he was offered a job at a location about 90 miles from the new house. after several months he was offered the original job again. There are plenty of stories.
just make sure you dont want to move. :smt023

WOW!!! Thats pretty wild!! thanks for the info, I will keep that in mind. I'm actually thinking about going and applying for a part time dock worker position they have listed and from there see if I cant get in on a couple delivery runs every now and then, I just cant go full time as I already have a fulltime job now until I retire but with the weird hours I work I certainly have plenty time off to something part time....just a thought...

Hopefully that will work! As far as I know you wont drive until you're full time. But that will at least get your foot in the door and let you see how you like the people there and how the terminal is run! And hopefully there will be a full time position open when you are available. Good Luck!!

This thread hasn't been active for a while, just wondering if there are any SEFL drivers still posting here? Thanks.

Of course you're pro union. You get paid 2x what you're worth, do half the work most people would in the same field. Only trouble is, they bankrupt most businesses. No company can compete by paying union wages and benefits. Unions are one of the main reasons most manufacturing jobs goto mexico or china. Because workers think they deserve $80 an hour to put parts together. Most other countries they are just happy to have a job.
