Im thinking of applying with robertsons. I like that its local. I can practice in ideal weather and i know the roads. Is there any other company that I should look into? Specifically the inland empire area, or high desert/victorville area.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Robertson's isnt bad, you'll be home at the end on every shift. Cement driver can work 14 hour days regular, just so you know. Robertson used to be headquatered in Chino, and they do train. Every where else is going to run you OTR at least to start. From Robertson in a year or so you acan go to Apex, Double Eagle, Assciated Ready Mix or Valley Bulk. There all about the same, APEX & Roberston's pays hourly dont know how the rest pay.
You could check with Lily at Whole Foods in Compton or Alan Richie Mail they maybe able to help you. After a year theres lots of local options here in LA.

If you live up here in the High Desert, find a job here. You don’t want to commute down the hill every day and back up. The 15 is a circus now.

Exactly which city/town do you live in?
Are you set on local only?
If you are, then Robertson's is a good place to start.

Robertsons is redi-mix and bottom dumps that feed their plants. I believe they also can test you (authorized by DMV) for your CDL. SIDENOTE....notice their bottom dump trailers, they only have 2 tail-lights instead of 4 ! Probably think they're saving weight.

Knew someone who worked there. He said it was a lot. They’ll work you up to 16 hours a lot because you’ll be running California HOS. Sometimes he ran to Vegas and back. Pay was kind of low he said but you’ll bank a ton of overtime. They’ll get you your cdl and they test you themselves instead of going to the dmv.

So, that means Victorville, if so then Double Eagle (Hesperia), Valley Bulk (Victorville) or APEX in (Adelanto). I would not reccomend going down the hill everyday to anyone. Arnett Trucking in Ontario will send a truck home with you, you would load in Victorville or Oro Grande.
Also om another note CRST is looking for local drivers to run from Boron to Long Beach home daily, pay I think is around 34.00 per hour, truck stays in Boron. Coimute to Boron way better than to Fontana.

16 hour days is normal in the cement industry for the bulk drivers.
