Last time I was on their website, it clearly stated that they clip limiters.

Something is very wrong at Sparky's. I have tried to contact the shop by e-mail, phone, and even asked the local police chief to stop in and see what the deal was after placing an expensive order. Not to cause problems for the guy, but had a feeling I've been scammed. The Chief told me he would get back to me if he found anything out...he didn't. Did a whois on the domain name for sparkyscbshop.com, and tried calling Albert Carle, the owner, at the number listed on the website domain. I have read nothing but horror stories on all of the forums (unfortunately after placing my order), and the BBB has him rated at an "F". Interestingly, Al registered a new domain name in January of this year for Sparkyscb.com, but the site shows it is under construction and the domain expires in 2016. (I wonder if there is a name change in the works?" The current domain at sparkyscbshack.com expires in 2013. I searched the Secretary of States website for IL for any corporation or LLC that could even be close to the company name, and under any principal Al Carle...nothing. That doesn't mean that it may not fall under a different designation by IL law, and not in the database. I get that the guy might be ill, or fallen on hard times, but that doesn't take away from somebody's responsibility to keep the buyer or customer informed. I read a forum post about a trucker dying in the s&*ter, and letting his truck run too long and couldn't be cited for idling more than five minutes, but he ain't playing with everybody's hard earned money. Al's website looks like a multimillion dollar company, that would fool the most suspicious buyer, and lend no clues to the defunct practice that is going on. Thank God for Paypal. He doesn't have my money anymore, since I can't get a response to even cancel my order. Good luck to you guys, and caveat emptor.

I really just wanted my product, and Sparky's genius tune job!

If you think it is genius you should change your forum name to just bill.

Huh? I guess I don't get it. What does my user name have to do with anything?

Detective. There are thousands of posts online about the whack packed butchery being done from that shop. A little detective work would have brought this to light before you spent money there, or come to the conclusion the tune ups are genius. In short you don't have to be a detective, I have read many hundreds of stories over several years about the place. On many different websites.

Sparky does not do whack pack stuff. That is another place called Radio Active Radios, Nothing but cut limiters and over modulating radios that actually sound like crp on the air.

I can whack pack a radio any day. Not hard as long as you have a clippers handy and a small screw driver.

Sparky (Al) does a much better job at setting up a radio. I have run them and some of my friends run them, Nothing but clean sounding radios that will get the job done even on a busy channel and you can't hear them on any other channels other then what the dial is set at. Unlike the Whack Packed radios that you can hear 5 channels on each side of were the dial is set.

Well that is good to know but there are a lot of posts out there confusing him with whack packing. Possibly if he clips limiters people are confusing that with other added mods such as diode swing mods. I know I have read them over the years. In any case bill had a bad experience requiring another company (paypal) to refund his money. That with lack of communication and/or difficulty in contacting a business which has possibly hundreds in your money and no product received, can not be good for whatever reason it occurred. If circumstances outside your control prevents an order being shipped it is important any company go the extra mile maintaining information to the customer without delay, unless the owner is in a coma somewhere or abducted by aliens. A customer has a right and need to know in short order what is going on with their investment. This is merely good business policy.
