Why does it's higher power handling capibilities make it a bad coax? It is overkill in most average installations but it is not bad coax.Anyone would be fine using RG-58 in a mobile installation at stock power.

well since the cb mounts are located so low and on the inside of the mirrors on this t600 imnot to worried about snapping them off. i think i am just going to get one coax and then run the 2nd as a tv antenna if possible cause i like matching stuff.i have to have symmetrical stuff. so what if i just got the top gun compressor with that cb? i think im just trying for overkill due to not getting out at all. partially cause of these mismatched bs antennas on this truck and partly cause i all ways have been one to want the best quality stuff i can get that will last me forever so i dont have to replace it. guess thats why i still use an old nokia tri-mode cell phone. lol cause the #### thing has never let me down and stays charged for 2 weeks with how little i talk on it. rather be on the cb. my codriver said he got out about half a mile this morning i think he is full of it. but yeah it has a 1.5 ft on the passenger side and a 2ft on the drivers side.so your saying i would get better reach if i just unhooked the passenger side one? or would i need to just run a single coax instead? and yes the mount point on these t600s is super low :/

RG-58 should handle at least 500 watts at CB a 100/1 over kill .......
But I like Good MINI 8 ( RG-8X ) in most cases since it is a bit less lossy even at CB.

Wait until you run one single coax to unhook the passenger side one. If you do it now, your radio will still be trying to transmit through just the coax on the passenger side-not good. If you want the best in reliability and old-school dependability, don't get the rfx75. It's a fad. It won't last, especially not in your cubbyhole. It might show 100 watts on a meter, but not all of those watts will be on the channel you're talking on, because it is over-modulating. You're right, you're over-compensating for your antenna problem, you will get out much better if you fix it. You'd be wasting your money buying a new radio until you fix your antenna problem.

Bigm, to be fair, those antennas were $20 each, and I bought the last two. I'll probably wait until I break one and put the Everhardts back up. Or buy a Skipshooter.

question??? have you had your antennas set to your truck? did you get your swr set? its easy to do your self. get better coax ? adjustable antenna? that will handle the load you are pushing.
not sure if anyone said anything about this. i set my swr's my self and my range went from a mile to 6 in front and 10 + behind. i cant lean the antenna forward due to the mirror mount. but in my next truck ill lean it about 15 deg forward and i should get out in front alot better then 5 to 6 miles.

Buy a Galaxy 95t2 if you want power for $400.00.

The Higher power handling has nothing to do with it. It's the Higher Losses of RG-213 that make it a bad coax. No one with a CB can afford to lose any output power. Go check the facts about RG-8 & RG-213 coax & loss. Go to the link below.

If I was going to spend $400 for a new Galaxy, I would pick up the DX 98VHP. It's has 200 watt maximum power output. 50 watts more than the 95T2.

I agree. However you can get the 48T for less than $275 which is the same radio as the 95T2 except it has no ssb and frequency counter which you don't need anyway since there is no ssb. :biggrin_25525:

Very true and he'll have money left over for a good antenna and coax.
