Previous response is confusing so redo. Lol.

1 - are you going with the SPP (salary) or mileage program. Salary

2 - where do you live and how often are you gonna head home. Panhandle North Florida.
On home time now after 12 weeks on the road. Been home 4 days. Going back to work tomorrow.

3 - are you gonna run what’s given to you or “I don’t go to that area because so and so.”
In 25 plus yrs driving I’ve NEVER refused a load.

If there’s anything I’ve learned about the salary program it’s that you’re gonna think more highly of it if you run hard and enjoy staying out for 2-3 months at a time and then taking a week to two weeks off.

It’s a no bs, my opinion, salary program. Yes, there’s a monthly minimum and it’s very easy to hit if you know how to manage your clock. I did 11200 miles last month in July and it was a very slow month freight was. But when I got the loads I ran them... and a lot of the trips I get are at least 1500/miles. Spin two a week and you’re golden.

Ill be the first one to tell the SPP is by no means perfect and it has little issues with it that I don’t care for... so once you’re first year is up on the program... you can run the numbers vs the mileage pay and see if you want to switch. They don’t screw you on the pay — and they’re not gonna take you off the salary if you’re running what was given and going through the motions.

You’re gonna have some trips that just SUCK. Pickup in Wichita and you got 12 stops between San Diego and Los Angeles. Yes, those runs exist. No, you should not get them frequently. I do a miserable LTL load normally once a month. Many of the trips will have 2-3 picks or drops attached — most don’t have more than 5 in my experience.

And just a side note. I find it amusing how long it takes some companies to process an application. SPD was a day, maybe two. I have a couple companies going into week 2. And still nothing.

Thank you very much. It’s just me and the pup. So I will stay out a minimum 8 weeks before I even think about home time. And one thing I learned a long time ago. Not all loads are golden. Sometimes you have to take a not so attractive load. No biggie. All part of the dance.

Just exchanged an email with Kaelee asking about Canada freight. Don’t have a passport. But will get one. And she said SPD will pay for it. So that’s cool. She said not a lot going to Canada but there is some.

When you’re in orientation they want you to signup for your Passport, Hazmat, and TWIC.

Florida is somewhat weird and I don’t think you can do a lot of those without being in the state (Hazmat and TWIC).

I only have my TWIC and have no issue staying busy.

Had my TWIC at one point but let it expire. Same with Hazmat.

Still have to give notice at current employer. And we all know how that can go. Lol. So it’ll either be a couple weeks or a couple days. Either way. I don’t burn bridges. Never know when you’ll need someone’s help.
