True. But is it worth the extra cost? I am not sure if it is. I would prefer to spend that money on something else both air and disc brakes performance being roughly equal.

I have a 2005 1.4 million miles and never blown a front air bag, I've only changed 3 of them because they started to leak, I like it, it makes the ride smoother

Both are air. Your air chambers will be turned sideways.

    Cost?
Depends if weight is an issue, and our guys say they are less per mile to run. No idea if that is true. I know they fade less on downgrades, and work 100% better in the rain.

I would get bose, i understand BOSE seat is way cheaper if ordered , half price on new trucks, aprox 3500$.
I spent 50-60k on over past 10 years on my Hendrickson Steertek air axle , its hollow, welded flimsy pos, it bent twice during towing, always problems with valves, leaking air springs, height out of specs and volvo technicians are not trained .properly to deal with it.
I would get Eaton13 manual vs I-shift. I had 1.8 mill on last truck on Eaton 13 manual the only maintenance was 4 oil changes and 40$ top shifter knob replaced once . I have 1.1 mil on this truck same Eaton 13 manual original .

Definetly go with a manual trans. I was put in an 18sp last summer, was not sure at the time but luv it now. Tho I do miss the 8sp that was common years ago where 3-4 and 7-8 were reversed from the normal h-pattern, those blast to drive in dump trucks pulling beaver tail trailers with a case 580 loader

So you're saying that you've spent 5-6 thousand dollars a year for 10 years on a steering axle? Plus you've bent the axle not only once, but twice from towing it from the axle you're not supposed to tow from?

The I-shift seems to be getting popular with drivers.
Are the fuel savings that much better than with a manual? Is a manual even an option with the new builds?

You can only get the I-shift if it's paired behind a Volvo D-13 engine.

The manual transmission option is only available behind the Cummins X15.
