I was thinking about this topic the other day just adding to my previous post how about if they could fit something on the truck like they have on the Indy cars? They call it " push to pass " can only be used in short spurts to get around a slower moving vehicle.

I get what you are saying but on the Indy car I think they are adding a bunch of horse power for a short period.
IE raising the boost and adding fuel, but the engine will explode if used too long.

Freightliner has it in the drivers rewards. If you are doing ____ mpg, if your at the limiter you pump the pedal 2 times and it gives you ____ mph extra for ___ . Company gets to fill in the blanks.

Driver reward programming has been around forever. My two 6nz cats were programmed with it. Set your benchmark fuel mileage at 3mpg. Set road speed limit to wide open. Within 10 miles of driving your truck is wide open, but shows 105 on the old ez tap tool MTO use to use. Which they’ve since abandoned using quite a while ago now.

They all know it’s done. It’s no big secret to the MTO. Why do you think they quit using their ez tap tool?

I just took delivery of a brand new cascadia, governed to 65mph, and the company agreed to setup what Freightliner calls "PasSmart", which is similar to the driver rewards, except it's not related to mpg. It simply allows the driver an extra few mph for a given number of minutes per day, in my case 5mph/30min. Meaning once I hit 65, if stomp the throttle 3 times, the speedometer turns blue (meaning the ecu starts counting down seconds out of my 30 minute allocation) and the truck climbs to 70mph. As soon as i come back under 65, speedo goes back to white and the countdown stops (at 29 minutes and 10 seconds for example). I don't use it to pass much, 65 is a nice cruising speed up in the northeast, but it's certainly very useful to maintain the 70+ momentum gained freewheeling down a grade when you have an uphill coming right up...which, in essence, becomes a fuel saving practice. Love this feature

Our fleet trucks and owner operators are required to keep to 100 km max.
Fleet trucks are governed to 103 km.
Your loosing bonus money if going over 100, big trouble going over 110. 3, 110 kms within 30 days your looking at suspension.
What are you going to do about ELD?
Most fleets have maximum speed set in office side of ELD software.
Your flagged automatically if going company over limit.
What about the police as ELD tracks speed with GPS...
