i use the cruise all the time in my four-wheeler. i get irritated when someone not using it decides to pass me because i'm going "too slow" and then gets in the right lane in front of me and 2 minutes later, because they aren't monitering their speed i have to hit "coast" on the cruise or pass them.

I'll say this much...I hate companies that force a low speed limit on your truck. The states I like to run in all have speed limits at around 70...and I've always been lucky to have a truck that was governed at 75...which is fast enough for me...and should be fast enough for anyone, really in my opinion. Anything lower than that is just asking for trouble. I wish states like Illinois and Ohio would pull their fingers out and realize they're causing a lot of heartache on their roads...

When on a motorcycle, it's best if you 'power out' of a bad situation---hitting the brakes can dump you and put you down!!

Just an average FYI, NOT all cases!! JAM

    It is purely situational....

On a bike, you can stop in under 100 feet.

You can also accelerate to 100 in less than 7 seconds on some.... it is a tossup...

As my general rule of thumb, I would rather be going 30 and dump it cause i messed up on the brakes than accelerate to 80 and still hit the situation....

I practice braking on the bike many times a year, from 30 from 60 and from 100+....my braking skill on the bike is very good, I can safely stop VERY fast, some times too fast for people who tailgate, that is primarily why I ride 70 in 55 zones, to keep me moving faster than traffic.

Too many lay it down that dont have to---practicing for the 'inevitable' (if you ride bikes enuf!) is a definite plus!! Good for you!!

"laying it down" is bad....getting on the binders slows you 10X faster than your body scraping along the ground.....

Only conceivable time laying it down would be good if if you could time it to slip under a tractor's trailer if it was blocking your path, and that is almost imposable to time, and pull off....
