I'm not going to take the space to quote your long winded , inaccurate statements . You are wrong speed limiters only increase the risk when traffic is heavy and merging . There is more risk in moderate traffic with traffic flowing at or above the speed limit with trucks driving slower . For proper braking distance a truck should keep a four to six second interval between them and the vehicle in front of them . At least that's what they teach in the U.S. . Evidently Canadians aren't taught that because most of them prefer to keep an interval of two seconds or less . Now when trucks are driving slower than other traffic with this interval between them they will have vehicles pass them and enter this interval and the distance is no longer safe . How difficult is that to understand ?
I posted a video in the Blind Spots thread showing how to maintain control when a tire blows out on a truck . Control is maintained by accelerating . When a speed limiter is on a truck many drivers will keep the pedal down going the maximum speed the limiter will allow . If a tire blows they cannot accelerate .
