Speed limiters, heck, Monfort's been gone for years now, why dig up a dead horse. Oh yeah, just what we need more gov't control, more comparing the good 'ole once free USA to European socialist countries and how good it is there....Those 40 & under have been so indoctrinated by big brother, they have no idea about how good we once had it out here on the big road....

Leave me the #### outta this. Those communist ######## who hate our beautiful country and all it stands for can go #### themselves, and I'll have no association with any of themPoleCrusher and Bean Jr. Thank this.

Scottie, speeding does play a role in many fatal accidents, but not the way speed limiters would help. Work zone stoppage. A guy going 50 is speeding, but your precious speed limiter won't help. A guy lost his brakes on I70 in Colorado and hit stopped traffic doing an estimated 85 mph. Speed limiter won't help.
Speed limiters would be so nice with every truck governed the same speed, yet trying to pass each other! No thanks, I'll pass. -
No, you won't. You'll be within half a mile an hour of the other guy
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
If you want to see how a real live experiment on the North American Continent is working, just visit Quebec or Ontario Canada. All of the traffic moves at the same speed, all of the traffic crashes at the same speed, all of the traffic tailgates each other at the same speed.
Of course no one will examine the numbers to see if it has had any effect on safety, because it hasn't.
As for using the planets resources wisely, let's all take Scotties advice. But why stop at slowing trucks down? How about eliminating the use of air travel, or banning drinking water in plastic, hauling an RV around with a big pickup truck, or any of the many ways humanity uses resources. Who is going to make those decisions Scotty? You? -
I don’t give a #### about Europe.
This is the USA and we do things OUR way. We have the best standard of living in the world and I for one refuse to accept the hogwash of how we should lower that for whatever reason to be somehow in line with “the rest of the world”.Bean Jr., kemosabi49, wndrwtr and 5 others Thank this. -
With the additional horror of having to sit and tell stories and legends teaching Monfort to the younger generation just getting into this industry.
Ive raced... er ran with a few in my time. God they were fast. (And should be...)clausland Thanks this. -
Please do tell..... That was two generations ago, in a whole different era, when it used to be fun out here. Look in your mirror mule, twin stacks of coal pouring outta them pipes, sure is a sight, give 'em room boys, give 'em room, for here they come...….
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Bills like this are reactionary.
The government is too lazy to pass laws like this unless a problem has grown too large to ignore and the calls to do something about become too numerous to push aside.
Every day, 20 to 50 sacks of crap claiming to be "professionals" fly past me at 5 to 15 mph over the posted limit, especially in work zones. If a pleb like me is able to notice a problem this big, than the people important enough to do something about it certianly are.
If this passes, than you can thank your fellow truckers for being too stupid to obey the law. -
The irony is that most of them are doing that because they are governed as it is, whether because they feel they need to do that to make up time, or because they just had to struggle past a ######## who wouldn't back out, then initially *did* slow down, only to see the same ######## about to fly by, so they hammer down so he can't. Mandated limiters will obviously make this far worse. Good luck convincing washington ####tards of that, though.
You are living in the past, unfortunately. Reality is a large amount of the Americans who work overseas in Europe for a year or two end up trying to permanently relocate. If we really still had the world's highest standard of living, this would ostensibly not be the case.
You can save resources and improve safety, without taking away drivers' ability to pass. Try again. If anything happens with speed limiters, they should be banned outright, not mandated.Bean Jr. Thanks this.
