Sure, and in fact, I don't. That doesn't change anything... the trucks are set where they are, and as a lease operator we are contractually bound to observe it. Moreover, it doesn't make any sense to drive even at those speeds in days of $4-a-gallon fuel when you're paying for your own fuel. Its the no. 1 expense on your profit/loss sheet, and you'll bankrupt yourself at 65 mph. It just happens faster at 72 where we used to be governed.

Ok, here's the deal with hill bros, yes we can fuel anywhere but get fuel discounts at flying j/pilot,loves locations. Fuel rebates vary depending on location some as much as .40 cents, the trk i'm leasing is owned out right by hill bros it's not leased from a dealer. My payment is $505.00 a week for 4.5 years then i have title. Yes i have my own liability and bobtail ins thru ooida. Or you can use the fleet ins, your choice. You may take the trk to another carrier as long as you have an agreement between you, hill bros and other carrier that hill bros will in fact get their payment weekly out of your settlement first and foremost. Yes i take as many days off as i can afford to. But i run a dedicated fed ex that gets me home sat afternoon and i leave monday at midnight. 3000 mi a week. Get fuel surcharge that fluctuates with doe fuel price average. Can buy parts etc thru there shop at a discount if you like. I run an avg speed of 70 mph if i have the time if not i run what i need to, to get freight delivered on time. When i ordered trk i set it up for high speed driving. 2.64 gearing in rear ends. This year so far i've averaged 6.7 mpg not great but not that bad either.

The lease/purchase side at Prime isn't that much different, except it's based on 3-years, with a down payment. -
Of course there are speed limiter on Primes leased trucks. They got a force of rookies / financially irresponsible individuals as the primary lease holders and this is a wicked design that works and always will. There is also a limit on your average gross income so don't be fooled into thinking that faster speeds mean more loads and money. You will just start getting low paying loads to balance your pockets. Financial ruin is quite easy to achieve with one simple incident so go slow and manage your pocket money a best you can.
