Synthetic transmission oil is expensive stuff. I'm not sure how $75 for 12 pints figures out but I know I paid about $200 for Delo 50w transmission oil about a year ago. I would imagine Speedco charges double that like anyone in a service business does. That's why it's always best to do these easy jobs yourself.

the thing I hate about speedco or any truckstop garage is you ask for just an oil change, nothing else and they cant or wont do that unless you pay for this package or that package. ALL I WANT IS MY OIL CHANGED what is so hard about that?

I used to get my oil changed at Speedco years ago and then decided what the heck... I can grease it myself and just have them change the oil nothing more, I would even provide my own filters, and maybe save some change. WRONG! None of them have a deal for just an oil change only..... At that point I said #### these people and started doing them myself. Saves at least a $100 every time and the only reason I paid them to do it was basically sheer laziness anyways.

I bought a big oil drain pan, 14.5 gallons or so, not exactly sure, but anyway I bought one, and at the time I thought, "$100 bucks for a plastic oil drain?", but I bought it anyway and it has saved me a ton of money over the last three years...

Is it a pain in the ### to change my own oil?? YES, but the peace of mind and $$$ savings is worth it.

I went to Tractor Supply and got one of those black plastic 15 gallon water/feed troughs. It does the trick. I use big pieces of card board box in underneath there and never spill a drop anywhere on the ground in my driveway. There's any of a number of places around town that will accept the used oil. It's really no different than changing it in a car, just more oil, plus fuel filters.

Yeah, I am just getting older and have so many things that take up my time at home. I supply the oil, as I usually have 10 gallons of the Schaeffer Oil that I use in the side box, and have Housby Mack Trucks quick lube shop in Des Moines do a quick oil change, nothing else. They have the Donaldson filters I want. I still do all the greasing. Don't trust anyone to do that right.
