Guys, listen I posted my message to look for your profesinal help, and most of you. Not all of you are judging me. Yes, I got the ticket all on my own. Not that it matters how I got the ticket I will exsplain. My new born son was at home w/ my wife and I was 50 miles away visiting my parents, when my wife called, and said my son quit breathing, and the squd was in rout to the hospital, so I freek out, and drove as fast as I could to be w/ my son, as any father or mother would have done. I got pulled over and told the cop my story. He called the hospital to comfirm my story, and they told him yes my son had just arrived. The hospital to the cop that my son was stable. At that point the officer told me what good would have it been for my son if I was killed on the way there. I told the cop point taken and he still gave me a ticket. No one fault but mine.......
As far as checking on my driving record before I started the trucking school. I did so, and the recruitor told me I would be fine. After waiting 2 months to get in the school my hopes were high in starting a new career for my family. After starting the school the job placement girl said to me that we are going to have trouble getting me job because of the ticket. I told her that the redruter told me I would be fine. So she went down and talked to him and he admitted he dropped the ball. The owner of the company came up and appologized to me and told me to hang in there , and they offer an Honor Roll students if you acheive a certain grade point average that it would really help me. Well I did so, and it got me no where.
I'm not trying to get anyone to feel sorry for me in my story I just wanted to explain myself because I felt that allot of you were judging me. I'm just on ordinary guy looking for a shot to prove myself

Well we all make mistakes. I speed on a constant basis but thats apart of my job that I do now and I don't worry about law enforcement but thats another story it's a non cdl job so don't worry I'm not rolling down the highway loaded to the gills doing 80 mph. Any ways you will see me post this alot on here. I'm a guy who never had any desire to go OTR not that there is anything wrong with it. It just wouldn't work for me and my family situation. and I didn't when I got my cdl. I had no experiance only school. I was told I would never get a job local and I was wasting my time. Well long story short I found local and my driving career has been nothing but local work. I have had alot of experiance driving straight trucks, dump trucks with a trailer and without, tractor trailers.

I have hauled shingles, heavy equip which I wasn't fond of but it wasn't a bad gig, hay, precast concrete products so on so on. I have gotten alot of experiance right here at home and got paid well doing it. Anyways enough of me rambleing on, my point is look for work around home local work. Something where you will be home every night so you can be with your family. If you want otr then thats cool. I wouldn't screw with the likes of the more popular screw you over companys out there find a smaller one if you really want over the road.

It's a little harder to find no lie's there. But it's out there. It might not be as glamorus as otr but hey it will pay the bills and probally better being your more than likely going to be hourly. I have since helped others do the same and I know it can be done. Most local companys aren't like these big sweat shop outfits with pretty trucks and they don't care as much about your speeding ticket 2 years ago aslong as your honest with them about it. It would be different if you had several then I could honestly say your SOL but your just looking in the wrong places.

Hang in there you get there. Just have to stay at it hard and from what I have read of your posts you seem to be determined enough. I have no doubt you will find something.

We all make mistakes and I'm sure when you did what you did you were not thinking about driving a truck later on. I've always said on this board that a clean record is paramount. The way the business used to work is when you first started out you could have a couple of blemishes on your record then you'd work them off for a clean record. You needed the clean record to better your job as you gained experience. Now with so many drivers out there the companies have the pick on who they want. Speeding is a killer for jobs and we've all done it. Speeding now is just stupid and not necessary considering unemployment pays less.

25mph over is major. So I think your approach to driving has to be local or a small OTR company. You can download trucking companies in your area and then weed through the list. Then you'll have to go out and see them. Be up front on what happened and you never know you might just get lucky and find a company you really like. It seems that everyone thinks they must go to these large companies to start out with and they are the ones that go through drivers the most. That's why they must advertise so much and promise the sky.

Just look at the school you went to and I'll bet you saw that they pushed the bigger companies and might even have had recruiters come in. Neither one is working for you. So you can find work, you'll just have to do it different than the thousands of other drivers. Use the computer to get your contacts and then go see them.

If you were 30 over here in Arkansas you stood a real chance of suspension. If not outright revoke. In Maryland 25 over 70 would result in a arrest because you busted the 90. It's egregious.

Im not here to pound on you. You might want to work for a rusty old dump outfit a while who could not care less about you and probably abused you to boot. It will be about 3 years to 7 before it drops off your record.

You can be the top in school, but out here in the real world you are just learning. Settle in it will be a while.
