Does nothing for cdl holders

I am not yet a CDL holder. This ticket I am afraid will stop me from becoming one. Since it is so recent, and 18 MPH over the speed limit. It definitely will stop me from joining the school I wanted to, CCC & TI in Hudson NC, which states I must not have such a conviction on my record in the last three years.
ramblingman Thanks this. -
Thanks a lot for the information though Chinatown. I am not going to give up yet. I really wanted to jump into Food Service when I got my CDL, but if there is anyway I can get my license with this on my record, I will work for whoever will hire me now at this point until it comes off my record and I can get with a better company.

No. You are getting a lot of bad advice. If you have 2 tickets for 15 over you can not get a job. 1 ticket 18 over will limit your options. I had a 19 over one month before I got my cdl and also a 7 over and 9 over within 3 years. I went to a private school. A lot of companies did reject me. But I got 3 offers and took the best one. I got a local job at a small company making 50k a year home every night off weekends. I got lucky. You have hope. Apply everyware, go in in person and talk to people if possible. Try small companies. Be presistant. If you want it go get it, don't wait for a company to come to you. How are you otherwise? Good work history? Any criminal record?Windir Thanks this.

Not necessarily three years though.

Do you have a cdl permit yet? If not contact your state about the defensive driving. It varies by state, in il it completely removed the ticket from your record, but once you have a permit you are not eligible for the dd class

Sorry ajohnson you were right. It's 1st one does not result in disqualification, second one is 60 days third is 120 days i
But after the first one no company will touch you for three. I was wrong after looking at the fmcsa'sajohnson Thanks this. -
Wow thanks a ton ajohnson! I have no criminal history at all. I have had many speeding tickets since I was 16, I am 32 now, but only one that is still on my record is the one in question now 18 MPH over. I know they never "leave" your record, but I am pretty sure most companies just look at the last 3 years? My work history has been solid. Been in retail/ retail management since I was 22 with no lengthy breaks in between jobs. I am now running my own business, which is not super successful, hence the talk of a career change.
NavigatorWife Thanks this.
