Swapped out a zf meritor automatic transmission to Eaton fuller 10 speed manual in 2004 vnl 670 with Cummins Isx. If I run the magnetic speed sender wires to ecm, will the dash and cruise get speed signal from the ecm??(after switching ecm to magnetic speed sensor and manual transmission). Or is it easier to add 1939 datalink speed sender? Brand of sender, tools needed for calibration if going to datalink sender. Thanks much

Go talk to Volvo, they may have a conversion memo.

I did. 2 dealerships(no advice)?and can’t get through on the 800 number without a yearly subscription. It’s my fault they built a truck with a pos tranny that was only made 2 years Meritor auto is for sale if interested, needs throwout bearing

If my memory still working speed sensor wires connected to VECU and from VECU by J1939 to Cummins ECM and by 1738 to dashboard and all other .
Good luck

Thanks. I have the diagram. Wasn’t sure if the ecm sent the signal to the dash if using a magnetic speed sender. Or if it is all shared over J1939 Datalink from speed sender.

its a 1939 datalink so even if you run to ecm it still wouldn't get it, you need to switch wiring harness between trans and cab need to go in with insite and switch speed parameter from 1939 to magnetic need to program tailshaft teeth and gear ratios in insite you will find in features and parameters portion then when all is said and done you will need a vehicle ecu from a volvo with 10 speed and cummins the only way to make it work properly

y did you swap out the trans and if the old trans is good do you have any interestest in selling it i'm always looking for these type of transmissions.

We were sick of the issues with the automatic. Throw out bearing went out in clutch this go around so put a manual in it. Otherwise it was working fine. New voltage multiplier a couple years ago. Air Clutch would freeze up below zero, abs code would not allow auto shift, etc I’ll post for sale after we get the manual working correctly.
