Yes, I'm running Vista Ultimate 64bit and it has the media center in this O/S. You will be able to use your 32bits applications in the 64bit O/S. It runs a X86 shell in the 64bit O/S. If your going to go with the quad core and spend that money. I would be going for the performance. Eventually everything is going to 64bit. Sorry, If you noticed, I corrected myself above and the quotes of mine in your post. I realized I had it backwards.

I ordered all that stuff on Monday and they delivered it TUESDAY. UPS gal wasn't happy about having to make 4 trips for all the boxes....LOL

Ok, I just ordered Vista Ultimate 64-BIT from Amazon. I can send the VA 32-BIT back for a refund. TigerDirect is pretty good about that.

All the "stuff" came Wednesday. Wifey said she didn't even know the UPS "lady" was here until she heard a "crash" on the front porch. It was the sound of the ATX case being dropped.
Opened up the boxes Thursday, ATX case busted. Called TigerDirect and got replacement Friday. Assembled computer last night and Vista 64 Ultimate arrived today.
Installed OS and up-n-running. -
My next system will be a quad core, just don't have the funds at the moment. So what do you think of the 64 bit O/S ?

Not sure so far, I haven't used it much. Had to buy Sony Movie Studio Platinum to handle the AVCHD (*.MTS) files created by my Canon HD camcorder. MUCH better program for the price than Roxio Easy Media Creator OR Ulead (Corel) Video Studio (I own both of those as well) It was actually LESS expensive by about $20 than either of those others. A BIT more complicated, but it does about twice as much as them as well.
I played around with the LightScribe Disk Labeler last-night on a project. -
I need to build a new machine, but, like you, RT, I don't have the funds. That might be a good thing as it will give MS time to get 7 finished up. I refuse to buy Vista. I'm running 7 beta on two machines right now, one desktop and this laptop, and I like it quite a bit. My other machines run XP or 2k3 Server.
RK, sounds like you've built yourself a pretty good rig, there.
Mooney, RT's right, the Dells are the way to go and you can get them for good prices following his advice. A friend of mine that owns a PC shop bought one of the Acer Ferrari editions and really likes it. Talk about fancy. Spendy, too.
