I'm just curious, what would you do if a bearing welded itself to the spindle and damaged it beyond use?

Yes, I read your post but I didn't read the post you quoted. Sorry if I offended you, I'm very passionate about spindles, and you're right about the driver not giving enough information. If he's paying 4k to fix something that can be fixed with an bearing sleeve he's really getting taken for a ride, basically he'd be paying that money for a brake job on one wheel. It happens all the time in the industry.

Oh I'm certainly not upset at all. Its hard to gauge context when reading. If the first post had said the spindle was damaged from a bearing spinning I'd totally understand the reason for the cost. I hate seeing people get screwed over due to just not knowing the right questions to ask a shop.

Even for a spindle swap, that is extremely high. I, personally wouldn't allow TA to do that type of repair. Whenever I got a PM from them, I'd stand and watch the tech. Yeah I would definitely call AS, they're nationwide and from what I've seen they do good work and they do it fast, instead of halfast.

The hub may not be damaged. TA Corp policy is to always install a new hub. They refuse to put a new races in used hubs. Get the work done some where else. You will save money and get better service.
