Mack has a few transmissions that have an air switch to engage reverse...

    TM-308M 8 forward speeds, 6 reverse
    TM-309M 9 forward speeds, 6 reverse
    T-310M 10 forward speeds, 6 reverse
T-310ME 10 forward speeds, 6 reverse w/ rear PTO capability

    Geeze...colors of the buttons?
I have had black, blue, red, and chrome! The blue always seemed to be the second button for an 18 RR
The red was in my first truck a Transstar with a 10 double over, then black on a six wheeler the company had to do their local stuff and the chrome I had in several 10 speed what ever because the driver before me liked chrome!

But it seems that the trucks with more than 10 speeds the slide switch was always blue like on 13 and 15 speed trannys. OH the Mack had a black button until I changed it to a clear yellowish color with sparklies in it! I picked it up at some truck stop somewhere in TN but for the life of me I can't remember! It was north of Ktown before the split where 40 and 81 are and I keep thinking it's on the south or east side of the interstate where the guy started doing the vinyl names and stuff for doors. I remember they had a great restaurant.

But for the last 15 or so years they all seem to be black and built into the shifter.

To add to okies question, wasn't there a trans that had a three position splitter? I've never driven one, but someone mentioned it once, could have been BS for all I know.:biggrin_2556:

Funny on the colour of the splitter though, I always thought it was just what Eaton was putting on that day.LOL

Were not some 15's Three Position?
    Low, Direct, OD?

You drove in low first...Then flipped the switch to the middle in drive....run through, then flip to high...IIRC...

I thought it was a 13 without the range selector. Splitter back was low range, middle was high range direct, and forward was high range over. Maybe it was a 15 though. Transmissions have the ability to become a confusing mess.

As far as splitter colors, I've always seen (on factory Eatons) blue on deep reductions (8LL and 15), red on 13's, and gray on 18's.

It was the 13sp. before a low-hi range selector was put on the lower part of the head. Also before splitters were color coded to which kind of trans. it was. There were all silver splitters then.
