I myself never drove more than 2 gear sticks. At times wouldn’t mind having that setup now for the lower gears….

These guys all explained it good. The only time I ever split the bottom is if I'm heavy starting out on a steep hill.

If I want the smoothest drive possible I like to hit every single gear.
I have mastered the ability to make a 18 speed feel like an automatic because how buttery smooth I make it feel.
On a side note in every 18 speed I've driven, 1 full gear is 400 RPM and split gears are 200 RPM.
When switching full gears you have to take a slight pause in between the gears where if you are splitting you can instantly put it into the next gear trouble free.snowman1980, Rubber duck kw and TooTiredToTalk Thank this. -
There's been plenty of times I wish the other truck was a 18. 1st is just a tad too high starting out with 40k and low to 1st is almost impossible to get without using the Jake to bring the rpm's down quicker so it'll slide in.

Doesn't the 18 speed have like a "dump truck" gear for creeping along real slow where as the 13 doesn't
