They are lower. I'd have to look it up to say how much.

This is a “divorced” twin stick setup… 2 separate transmissions.
See the shift linkages above the driveshaft? 2 separate transmissions and 2 shifters sticking through the floorboard to operate them.

The “married” 16 spreed was (2) 4 speed transmissions bolted together. And used the blue shift knob with 1-2-3-4 on it. The thumb shifter operated the back box, and the shift lever operated the front box.

Now the blue shifter can be used on the divorced setup too…

I guess we should mention that a big screwdriver or spud bar was required equipment when you'd stick the brownie.

Some might say. Not me though. The fact that he runs it on the road still is cooler IMO than some period correct showpiece that only see's daylight at a truck show. To each their own.

Irrelevant to some, mostly because they don’t understand the process. But many young folks still appreciate what many of us had to work with….

I'd still run one on the road if I had one.

I ran another wrecker - needle nose Pete with a 10 speed with 3 speed brownie behind it. That actually was a good set up. Drive like a 10 but split when you needed it.

    Hammer166 and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this.
