Just a heads up, If You're hauling a Trailer over 48' and your Kingpin setting measures over 41' from the center of your Kingpin to the center of the rear Axle you need a Permit in Florida. This has always been on the Books but rarely enforced. It's being regularly enforced now, by order of big D.O.T.
Spread Axle Kingpin, Florida enforcement.

Never heard of it.
I ran fla with a 48 ravens ten foot spread for a long time, not a word anywhere. -
You can buy a $10 dollar permit. It's not really a big deal. The fine is less than $200 if you get busted.krupa530 Thanks this.
-
$100 fine.
-
Correct, It has to be over 48'.x1Heavy Thanks this.
-
Yep, like I said less than $200.
-
As in a 53?
Bear with me and my stupid questions. I need to clarify. -
Even in the 90's, they were getting us. Both Fl and Ca. 53 vans, Company had them built. Where we were 42ft Pin to center or rear axle. Idoits ordered 200 of them.
-
48 and 53 aren't the only length trailers. Canadian flats are up to 51. Don't know about tankers or vans.
The 53 american flats have rear sliding axles. The canadian 51 are front sliders. The ones I've seen at the companies I've worked for anyways.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Plus companies can order custom sizes. GFS (food service company) has a lot of 50' by 13' high trailers.
50 foot, as Michigan tandem laws are for trailer longer than 50'. They are based in Michigan. 13' high as they care more about weight then cubic footage, and it allows them to get in a few places easier.
