I never said the airleaf was the nicest riding air ride, but it really changed the truck overnight and they were common. I think KW 8 bag was the nicest riding air ride. The worst? That crappy Neway that all Fords seemed to have.

I always thought Neway was by far the best. I didn't care for the old 8 bag KW any better than Pete's air leaf. They're all better than my Hendrickson pad walking beam.....at least until you get 40k or more on them.

I drove an 80 Freightliner COE that had Reyco - It wasn't too bad as I recall.

Lol the airleaf was ok back in the day I liked it but the 8 bag KW rode better they always said until it started to get wore it was costly to fix and seem to have it issues
That Ford Neway was not good IH used that Neway also .. I refer to as I Badway still better than Hendrickson walking beam though.

Interesting. The only Neway that I have driven was in an 89 Western Star - it was pretty nice!

The only truck I spent any amount of time in with Neway air ride was a 83 IH 4300 Transtar maybe it was the truck maybe it wasn’t adjusted correctly but it seemed to hit hard on bumps then I got in that 359 with airleaf and it was night and day difference maybe it was the difference between a Farmyard Ferrari and America Class IDK
I do know I knew of guys that bought new Pete’s and and wanted Neway air ride they claimed it rode better than air leaf

White-Frieghtliner designed Spring ride isn’t bad if the tractor is 230” or better wheelbase. That was being used up thru the 1990’s. The old 215’s and 220” wheelbase’s would play leap frog on any kind of pavement splice or wash board. They load down good and can take a lot of abuse. The family had a half dozen Whites and White-Western Stars over a 40 year period that only had those suspensions and they always outlasted the rest of the truck. Lol. Some of them were “loaned out” to other trucks many times too. My relatives threw nothing away and rebuild everything until rust cancer made it impossible to do so.

Had a old 4070B cabover that had reyco 4 spring suspension with 8 leafs per spring.
    Very stiff ride
Had to replace 2 of the springs.
The shop recommended replacing all 4 with 3 leaf hutch trailer springs.
I was skeptical because those leaves were so thick. Figured it would only ride good when fully loaded. I couldn't believe how much smoother the ride was loaded and empty.
Just another option that would be cheaper then a cut-off.

The FL "reyco" style also had a wide, and narrow spring option. The wide spring rode better. But your right, they would take the weight and abuse. Nuway was the way to go for air ride and heavy weights. But in this day and time, for simplicity and durability I'd put FL airliner on any truck. Loaded reyco,or FL spring ride isn't to bad. Definitely not Mack camelback, Hendrickson walking beam, or chalmbers rubber block suspension.

Neway is pretty much the industry standard in logging, dump trucks and oilfield in these parts.
