Spy ware in the truck??

If you run by mileage pay then you cant make any money if you don't roll non stop......he was just doing those guys a favor.....you got 14 hours to work and 10 to sleep......that's it......I hate it when drivers want to take a 14 hour break after a 8 hour day because we cant make a profit on a truck that only wants to run 1/3rd of the day......this is your career choice so just deal with it!

 

While I agree a 10 hour break is plenty, this nonsense that you need to roll nonstop is BS. How many years did you spend driving before becoming a dispatcher?

 

You don't need the truck to roll nonstop in flatbed to make a profit. Maybe you do in dry van, I don't know what kind of rates they get. But when was still rolling regional I would regularly do an eight or nine hour day and take the rest of the day off and still made a profit on my truck. It's not about how long you work, but how much you earn in a day. Also, drivers who have to run nonstop all the time are the drivers who end up running tired and burning out quick. Talk to the older drivers, and you will see that many if not most of us don't run our full clock out everyday. There's no need to.

Stop listening to your supervisor's BS and talk to us. We've been there, and we can help you be a better dispatcher. This board made me better, and it could do the same for you. The information I picked up here was definitely helpful when I decided to make the switch.

 

I've been driving 31 years.31 years ago I would have thought that a company would respect that. But they don't. So I just drive the truck, if I decide 8 hours is what I feel like doing. That's what I do. If I feel like driving 11. I do the 11. If you can pay your bills, that's all that matters.

 

so long as you're making on time pick ups and deliveries. I could care less how people managed their time so long as they were meeting customer needs and keeping it legal.

 

.... I'm glad we some drivers that immediately see past the corporate hype, this camera staring at the driver is just a tool to put the heat on the drivers, I won't drive a lawn mower for Jerks like this, it's very disrespectful.... We should ask how they would feel if we put a camera on their desk top pointed at them all day...... If anything they should be more thankful to have someone willing to be on the job 24/7, living on the highway & making chump change & doing alot of free work for their sake..... This should be an outrageous issue!!!!!!!

 

Most office/cubicles do have camera surveillance.

 

I have been on both sides of the issue and have seen what some of the dispatchers and planners do and how they are monitored and held accountable for there actions. They are monitored on emails, what they look at on there computers, and even the phone calls are monitored. Every minute they are at work is under some kind of monitoring. If it is as bad as you say it is (I know it is bad, I have been driving OTR as a driver trainer or 20 years) getting paid chump change and doing free work maybe you are with the wrong company? I don't know driver and I mean no disrespect so pleas do not take this the wrong way.

 

There isn't to many right companies to work for anymore. Unfortunately the "bottom line" mentality is what most of them have adopted. How much more can we squeeze out of them and where else can we cut cost. Great for the shareholders. It sucks for the office help, dispatchers and so on hence the low morale and animosity between dispatchers and drivers etc.
