I'll stick with my 198 it works on every radio i own which is 4 now in my trk. I'm told I'm crystal clear or loud-n-proud. I'll take either compliment...of course the watts I'm pushing doesn't hurt either.. I've got a original rk56 that sits on the shelf in the bunk. its got a new case/cord/and switch

Well, you know I've had one of these things for awhile.

So one night, I was bored in the truck stop, back when I was driving for crete. So, sitting there with my Q5-tuned Cobra 29 hooked up and running, I asked for a radio check, got some responses, then told them hang on, I'm going to hook up another mic. I switched between several, and most people said it sounded best with my SRA-198. The lineup included an original RK56 which predated the ones with the sticker on the front, so we are talking old. I remember seeing those sticker ones on the shelves as early as 2000, IIRC.

Mark keeps telling me I need to get an SRA198.
It's possible his tune might have changed over the years and maybe he does things differently now to where the road king might not be the best choice.

I have listened to my radio with an SRA198 and a 636L. To me, the Astatic wins, hands down. It's the mic I'm currently running on my 2970.

Thats what great about the CB hobbie there are several different manufactures of radios, antennas, and mics, each claiming there product is better and each brand will have there loyal followers claiming theres is the best. I for one like switching mics as much as I like using different radios and currently in my stash I have an original RK56, a new 56, workman 56, DP 56, Astatic 636, and the 198, and Ive been told they all sound good regardless of the radio. The only thing I can say about the 198 is it is best at eliminating feedback on my galaxy 99v2 when the talkback is on and personally I like the the shape of it and the way it fits in my hand.

I wish I knew the dc resistance of the primary and secondary windings of the transformer inside the dp56

I'm tempted to try an Astatic 651.

I know of all the mics the DP56-B produces the loudest modulation thats why when I run the Bearcat 980 and choose not to use stock mic I will use this one. Is that Astatic 651 a noise canceling mic or a power mic and is it available for sale or is it specialized like a military mic available only at electronic and military surplus outlets, and not wired for 4 pin cb radios. I did a google search and it didnt pull up anything.

I don't think it's noise cancelling unfortunately but I suspect it would sound good in a quiet environment.

Looks like it's only 50 bucks and I kind of like the frequency response pattern of it like 500 Hertz to 8000 Hertz
