On the 980, I actually got confirmation that there is no Roger beep on mine, from a guy who had that on whatever he was using.

Works for me, and I have a 148 that was sent back for a factory alignment, and a 959 Galaxy, but I like the 980.

Yes your right. Also, he doesn’t have it centered on the scopes screens Y axis. That maybe causing the distorted look. Not to mention it could be due to the age of the scope. At any rate, its not a very good looking signal.

Another thing i forgot to mention is that he might need to calibrate the scopes probs too.

It doesnt cost anything to open the bands on a ham radio. Its very simple to do and just requires a soldering iron.

Just google the brand and model of your ham, followed by the word mod or modification.

You’ll see all sorts of pages, photos, and videos on how to open the frequency range so you can use 11 meters (cb), aviation, police, business etc.

In most if not all hams you just heat up and remove a solder link. Very simple.

Its not illegal to do it either. It’s almost always illegal to TX on these other freqs but not illegal to mod the ham radio.

Keep in mind, federal law allows anyone to use any frequency in a life n death emergency, even police freq’s, if there is no better means of comm. available.

Federal law doesn't allow anything, the last I heard from the FCC, they have not commented on this at all, they just allow it. The cops and DHS has something to say about using police frequencies for any communications, which is beyond the FCC.

I wouldn’t recommend using a soldering iron on the newer HF radios, with surface mount technology. You may wind up with a very expensive doorstop.

If a Stryker 955 is converted to 11 meter does side band still work correctly?
