SSB CB Radio

Ok great! I'm trying one out to possibly buy from a buddy and I noticed on lower side band channel 6 that I pick up the same conversation on regular cb channel 6. Maybe that's normal or I don't fully understand how to use it?

 

That's normal, you can listen to AM signals if it is tuned exactly on that frequency.

The word "correctly" is subjective. Converting it to 11 meters doesn't make it perform worse than it did from the factory. On the other hand, any amount of distortion at any audio frequency drastically reduces the performance of the radio and any distortion present at the time the radio was manufactured will still be there after you do the conversion.
