Mine are 7”, from the ground up they are 13’5”. You can’t go no higher than 13’6”. 7 and 8 inch diameter are the most popular. Also depends what kind of cut you want on the tip. It’s preference.

slightly pointed at a 45 angle is there a correct term for it?

The bigger they are.. and without mufflers... the farther out they keep others, awake at night when you idle.

Miter cut?
Straight pipes can't be blamed for bein heard across the lot. It's the folks that can hear them that are at fault. For drivin a truck without adequate noise prevention insulation. Reason 2 it's their fault if they want to sleep with the windows down and want it library quiet. -
Slash, miter, chino, bull cut, straight, it does not matter with a DPF, and DOC no one will hear it. It will look like it's loud though.

I have 6 inch miter cut straight pipes on mine with a small inline muffler. They are loud. Going to switch to 7 inchers when I get time. I’m not so sure you have any idea but you have a dpf and no matter what you put on your truck, you will never hear your pipes. Listen how quiet your pipes are now. They are already non muffled straight pipes from the factory. That would just be a cosmetic thing. Just throwing that out there in case.Blkcowboy Thanks this.
