Sounds to me like @adayrider is the one with the insecurities to me. Funny how everyone thinks the other guy is compensating for something when it dosent fit their ideals or likes. Freaking grow up prople.

When you get giant useless pipes you'r looking for one thing. Attention. That's either going to be antagonistic or admiration. It's getting both.

I can’t totally disagree with you. Some people do it for an ego boost. However, if you are like myself and several others, you are an owner operator and a truck enthusiast. It’s not about what others think about your truck. Sure it draws attention but if it didn’t, it wouldn’t matter to you. All that matters is that you love the way your truck looks. It’s called having pride in your ride. I see several trucks a day that I think look better than mine. I say to myself that’s a #### nice truck. I also say, there’s a guy that has pride in his ride and loves his job. Keep on trucking and ignore the haters. Most haters on here will never have the opportunity to buy a preemisiions truck or glider. They will forever be stuck in a company truck that they cannot personalize and modify. That’s why there is so much hate on this forum about big pipes and modifications.
Hell you can’t even throw on a drop visor that actually keeps the sun out of your eyes without some hater saying “compensating”

there is so much ignorance on this thread its comical......lol

first off engines do no need back pressure. even gas normally aspirated engines. engine masters tested this on the dyno if you want to check it out its on YouTube.

turbo and esp turbo diesels any back pressure behind the turbo will hurt performance, even if a engine did "need back pressure" turbo drive psi (psi in the exhaust manifold before the turbo. can be as high as your boost pressure in some circumstances. so there is plenty of back pressure there. turbo's spin and create boost by the rapidly expanding hot exhaust gasses threw a turbine witch drives a compressor wheel, any restriction post turbo will make it operate less efficiently.

and to the guy that thinks he knows what air fuel ratio's engines gas/diesel runs at. my 400hp small block chevy in my jaguar runs threw the traps at 11.9:1 cruses at 14.7-15:1 and idles at 13.5:1 so tell me again how gas engines only run at 14.7:1

diesel engines will run on a huge range of a/f ratio's you may see 40:1. but too rich and you will get black smoke. this is because there is not enough air available to fully burn the fuel. the stoichiometric ratio is the air/fuel ratio that 100% of the fuel burns completely without any extra available o2.

Some drivers will never have the experience to drive mechanical motors that out match and out power newer EGR/DPF trucks. Most will never get to drive an EXHD/W900l in there career. Whether by choice or lack there of.
They can say I’m compensating, I say “Owned and Operating”

Such big stacks for so "little" bumper. LOL Do you make up for your small bumper with a gear shifter that rubs the ceiling.
I have never driven a single mile in 24.5 years in a truck that didn't have my name on the title (for money).
I have also never driven an EGR/DPF truck.
My first truck was a 1984 Int cabover with a big cam 400

Then you of all people should understand the hard work involved in holding it together. As well as the pride for doing so.

So what some people taste differs from yours. Does that alone make them an idiot?

That's kinda how your coming off and if so what exactly puts you on that perch above others?

Now I'm feeling really insecure about putting the steel box bumper back on my W900A. Now I need to find a big 24" stainless bumper with 20 chicken lights on it to mask my insecurity ;)
