Yes Sir, I do know what it takes. I'm not sure I would call it pride though, at least not the majority of the time. I never called anybody an idiot either. I do recognize pride, as in tug toy rig. If you think it looks good then by all means do it to it. What I do find the majority of the time is the guys with stacks, long gear shift , 25 light across the top, big visors and so on to be ### holes. Go to a new place get out and ask one these guys how things work here, where do you check in and such they are not all that helpful. Now I will admit there was a time when I did some of this stuff like extra chicken lights, polishing wheels and fuel tanks with a buffer and all that. What I figured out and just like my dad tried to tell me (dad was O/O for 47 years) is it doesn't make you anymore money infact cost you more money. And it draws attention and all your trying to do is impress someone that you probably will never meet. All chrome will rust, all aluminum will oxidize, and all lights quit working. I choose to spend my time with my family and put my money in my 401k. You are free to do with yours as you feel free. I'm not on no perch and I put my pants on same as you. Yes I was poking you and the like with a stick but it was in jest so take no offense please
Those stacks would never work on a dump around here. Loader operator would have them knocked off within a week.
Personally, I think that you can go too big and look gaudy, but that's just my personal opinion. All our trucks (including 379 and w900) sport the factory 5". As far as saying a turbo diesel needs exhaust back pressure is just crazy, and has absolutely zero credibility. Only thing back pressure does is make your boost lower and EGT higher.
you sound kinda bitter toward what people do with their own ride. No offense. that's good for you that you spend time with your family and put your money into 401k and thanks for giving the other members permission to what they want with their money.
I own a w9 with 7" pipes and a resonator. I like it. I honestly don't care if anyone else likes it or not. I bought it for me. I started trucking over the road in 75 and it is time for me to have what I want, so I do.
Clean or dirty I have pride in my old freightliner. I'm not afraid to get her dirty or work it. It is not how much money you can make that matters. Its how much you can keep that does.
But still there's a lot of drivers actors got the big stacks and have no qualms are using their jake brakes and keeping people up at night when they're trying to sleep
