Eh, say what you will, replacing the exhaust is simply a maintenance item. 5 years, do it again

The critical thing to make sure is ss in the system is the flex pipe, none of this aluminized or chromed galv stuff, pay good money on GOOD ss flexpipe and clamps

Maybe I’m minority here but I would rather have stainless vs chrome, chrome will clean up easier but I could polish my chrome stacks and 35 minutes later depending on weather etc they will look like they need another cleaning. I know some wipe their stuff down relentlessly but I don’t. So chrome does shine up nice but I am a fan of stainless as far as longevity and it kept up with will last a long time.

Lincoln has a great rep from what I’ve seen.

Straight pipes… you may want to hitch a ride with someone who has them and spend an hour or so with them. I have 7” straights and I don’t mind them 95% of the time. I’m 55 and have had all number of loud exhaust vehicle since I was a teenager. I am also an old truck/car person so if given the choice I may rather drive a tattered 71 GMC vs a new Superduty (and I have a Superduty now lolol) the 5% of the time I wish I had a muffler is really during a phone call etc but we have noise canceling headsets for that. Your truck probably has better noise abatement than a 94’ 379. I will say I don’t dislike it enough to even price mufflers/resonators at this point. I do try to be courteous around truck stop, town and rest areas. I cant resist hitting the jakes going through tunnels etc. lolol.

I did have a white Volvo dude give me a really dirty look in Tenn last month and move to a different spot when I was idling.

I call it the sound of freedom!!!

If I had the money I’d install some kind of diverter or cutout .

have the 6” straights and a quiet weed burner and a switch on the dash to choose which one .

lots of hot rodders and street rods have electric cutouts .

I have a Peterbuilt 379 with 7" Dyna Flex. I have a muffler under the truck. It sounds good, and its not too loud. It cost me around $3000 in parts only about 3 years ago. I am on home time now, but can you to up load a video of the sound next week if you like.

Anything over 7" diameter gets real expensive. No way would I want to drop 5k for a "maintenance" item so often. Pipes are high dollar.

Quit putting ugly stacks on trucks. Maybe im not the majority opinion there, but even 6 inchers look pretty terrible to me, 5 inch works sounds fine and is exceptionally easy to get parts on

Tires are easily over 5k per 5 years, thats part of regular maintenance,

When you have an engine putting out over 900hp larger diameter pipes become quite important. Either way, they're way over priced and most people don't consider exhaust to be a maintenance item like tires...especially every 5 years.

Your stacks are from “Lincoln Chrome”. There probably 8 years old by now. And I’m sure there still shiny ✨

The people i have seen with big pipes or pretty much anything over 650 hp spend an inordinate amount of time sitting their vehicle in a shop because its broken, or just spending money on shiney things that make no sense.

Im a bit more practical, if my exhaust system from the tail of the turbo to the stacks is replaced once every 5 years wether it needs it or not, at MY price (i can do it for well under 3k) and never have an issue on the road. I consider that money well spent in the extremely low hassle that taking off functional exhaust that doesnt require a whole day fighting with rusted or caked parts.

Your mileage on this clearly varies from mine. But dont kid yourself thinking that that overpriced hp monster that costs every penny you own to operate needs to be even more expensive and then expect anyone to feel bad for you because you wont do PREVENTATIVE maintenance.
