I would be concerned about driving for Star right now. Aside from the fact that they don't really care about running legal. They don't teach you how to drive legal, they teach how to cook the books. They also aren't interested in getting you home as promised. They were my first company and I lasted from mid December to February and was looking for a new job almost immediately. Yes I am paying off my loan with C1 and it was arranged through C1 not Star.

What would have me most concerned is that their primary customer is Cat. I would be worried about freight with them right now. I would look for companies that haul household consumables like cleaners, paper products, clothes, raw paper, etc.

Starbrite, The main thread that you are posting on is " Report A BAD Trucking Company Here " are you really expecting that no one would say negative things about the company being discussed? Thanks for the IRC as you can most likely tell I don't deal in taxation regulations very often. As for the per diem the company doesn't offer the type that would require a 1099 form. And before you ask, I have no clue what that really means, but my accountant was happy with the answer and that was all I really cared about in the first place, getting enough info for her to do her job. Again maybe the company should make sure that the female drivers KNOW that they can use the dispatch restroom. Which brings up a new question, since there is no place after the shop closes up to go to the bathroom should all the drivers now go to dispatch to use the restroom when the shop and safty are closed?

You can expect about the same as any company. Lots of videos on driving safe and all that bologna. I don't see them helping to make the drivers safer but you have to go through with it. However they will give you tests on what you saw and how you score will decide who gets the best truck.

I have some horror stories to tell you about this company, They started the first day I was hired to the day they laid me off. I should point out that I don't have any tickets, accidents, and I was never late on a run. The company needs to clean house from the top to the shop. Everyone there is out for themself and there is so much back stabbing going on that the company has people arrested on crimial charges.

Well I guess after what happened to me this weekend I'm staying away from them. I've been talking with Gene O there so called "personnel manager" yeah right. He told me to call him on Friday the 6th and he would set me up with a ride to orientation. Well he drops the ball and goes on vacation never making any plans for me. Oh well you live and you learn and it's back to square one for me looking for another job.

Civil War is an understatement, people were arrested! FBI came in and looked at the books.

Same thing happened to a frien of mine who got laid off, they called him back a week later, long enough for his insurance to lapse. since times are hard he was going to go back and they can't get him a ride. They are losing, just as fast as they are laying off. They still don't have a clue!

did they lay you off yet, or where you home from the middle of Dec to To first week in Jan? I Was asked to stay on for the holiday and was later laid off! They didn't give me any notice, I would have prefer some notice to get my stuff out of the truck. No ticket or accidents and no lates, just a bad company and dispatcher.
