Im thinking about getting starlink, but was wondering if i can just put the whole thing on my dash instead of having to set it up outside my truck every night.

It needs more degrees of access to the open sky than your dash will provide
    It has to go outside

Appreciate the quick answer, ill have to think of something then. Im a company driver so idk if the company would be happy with a permanent mount.

If you have a load lock holder you can put it up and down and lock it in place or just grab a pole and zip tie it to the mirror bracket. Problem with that I would worry about someone backing into it lol

Looking at mounting this to my Company Truck similar to what you have it, I think. We have a mounting bracket behind the cab for a Satellite Dish so I’m assuming it can be mounted there with a riser to get it flush with the top of the cab for max exposer and yet protect it from tree limbs.

How has your setup been working?

It's working great no issues. If your gonna mount one up make it so water will run off. So make one side just a tad higher then other side. You don't want that water just sitting on it. I was gonna use a satellite mounting dish and even had my mount made for it then at last min changed my mind. The satellite mount will work perfect though.

How is the service? Do you experience outages or poor service at times if you park next to a tree or something like a building that might partially block the view of the sky? I’ve been in some Rest Areas that are dense with trees.

I run the Midwest and Southeast a lot and the StarLink map made it look like there is slower service in the eastern US.

I’m looking at switching from using an iPhone & iPad both with cellular and a stand alone hotspot. Looking at dropping a few of those monthly fees for Starlink.

So I've had horrible service 3 times and that's because I parked next to a 50 ft tall building. It still worked but was a lot of in and out. Otherwise service has been great.
