revkev how does the hos work there if ur home on the weekends are you under the 60 hour ? and if so if u just drive 50 hours that week does it restart the following Monday or can u just drive for 10 more hours then u have to take the 34 hour reset?
-
Reset will almost always fall on the weekends b/c the company owner prefers his trucks not run on Saturdays. He's a Seventh Day Adventist, so Saturday is his church day. Typically pick up a load on your way home for the weekend on Friday, then leave Sunday afternoon/evening for a Monday morning delivery.

my instructor at school was saying something about if u drove for 50 hours one week and took the weekends off u could only drive for 10 hours the following week then a take a 34 hour reset and then you could start over with 60 maybe I misunderstood him so if u only drove say 50 hours a week and took the weekend off u can start Monday with a complete 60 hours again

so which one is McElroy on 60 or 70?
-
so just saying if I start driving on a Monday for McElroy it would be sunday before I could take a restart but McElroy has you home or off on the weekends so would I not have to ever take a restart
-
Well, the way it worked when I finished training at MTL, on Thursday of the final week of training they send you out that afternoon to go to wherever you'll pick up your first load. Picked it up on Friday & headed home. Keep in mind, this was last March before the new rules kicked in & you could pretty much take a 34 whenever. What I suspect happens is that after picking up that load Friday, ya go home of the weekend, & through the next week, if necessary they work you off a recap to get you to the next Friday when you go home. At that point you're more than eligible for a recap. By the next Friday, you're eligible for another, & so on.
Keep in mind, that's one way they could make it work. May not necessarily be the way they are doing it. I still talk to my driver trainer there all the time since we've become good friends. He's still getting home every Friday. Best bet may be to speak to someone there now.
