I dont plan on leasing and never. How many miles does he get teaming? How long did he have as a company driver before he went to lease? Hopefully they have good dispatchers in Salt Lake City.....Im excited though., i cant wait to start. Do you know how much $$ your husband took with him for food? Im trying to how much money I should bring... good luck to you and your husband too

The miles have varied because their previous dispatcher was flaky but between 2000-4000 which isn't a lot for a team. Their current one has guaranteed 5000-6500 miles/week so we will see... They are already at 2200 and their miles aren't due until Wednesday. He was company for 3 months before he started leasing( I told him to wait but he is too hard headed especially with his son coming in January and leasing was pretty much the only guaranteed way he could get home when he needed). Dispatchers are going to vary, especially from what I have been reading about Central that is one of the biggest issues. For training my husband brought food most of the time since he went to Fontana and we lived in Riverside and didn't have to stay at a hotel or anything. On the road now though he spends around $100-$125 a week but he also buys snack food(chips, jerky, water, soda...) when he is home to put in his truck which reduces how much he spends OTR.

In general though he hasn't had any problems and with leasing so far he has had 6 recalls and his turn signal went out, all of which Central has covered. He has a 2011 Limited International, it has bigger beds than his company Volvo as well as a fridge.

Sounds real good. Today I got a email to come take a test at the steel mill in my area which pays real goooood money, So if im hired there im not gonna go to central after all. But if they dont hire me then im going to go to central. Im still set to go to salt lake in January but hopefully I know something before then because I dont want to cancel Central and I not get hired at the mill. But I will see though. I really like truck driving, its like a childhood dream to become 1 but I cant turn the steel mill because the 1st year I can make 60-70,000 easy. But Im weighing my options now.

Well best of luck where ever you end up. If you get the steel mill position that is definately better than trucking especially starting out. Keep the truck driving open and hope you hear something soon!

Three months before leasing?! WOW! I take it he's not on truckers forum. To everyone else thinking of doing that....not a good idea. I can't believe Central let him do that! Is his co-driver experienced or something? I surely hope so! Good luck!

Sorry for not updating but I didn't end up going to.central. I got hired by U.S. steel. Its a big steel company in the same city where I live starting out at $19.81 a hour plus a extra hourly incentive....so I made the decision to either make maybe $35,000 my 1st year at central or make $65,000 + my 1st year at the mill...So I decided to not go and stay at home and work there....Best of luck to everyone that's going through training...I still like reading everybody's experiences so keep the comments coming...

I think you made a good choice.
I delivered there several times when I was hauling steel. And it seems like a nice friendly place to work.
