Alway practical miles! HHG is city edge to city edge. Practical is city center to city center. So when you go from south Atlanta to Northern Chicago the differance can be 60+ mile that you wouldn't get paid for.

Per diem vs non. I chose per diem, it has its perks and you get larger checks because less taxes are being taken out. However what you gross for the year will be less, could hurt you on buying a house and it also lowers what you contribute to social security. So in this area it is really what best suits you. Bear was on non then switched. Mr. G or the other guys might have more to add here.

    Old Boar Thanks this.

Made it through the first day. A lot of paperwork and info. to absorb. We have a class of 9. I don't think anyone not in the industry has a clue about all the regulations and reporting a driver is responsible for, without mentioning the 80,000 lb beast they're in control of!!!!! Look forward to the days to come.
Thanks for stopping by Bear, good to meet you! Maybe I can pick your brain some tomorrow.

If not during school, maybe we can catch each other during traiing, Bear. Didn"t see you after class today. I had one question to ask, but not on here, it can wait. If you happen to hear if there's aTX regional give me a shout. I'd at least like to find details, so I can decide either way. I enjoyed listening to all of you guys.
